Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Erin and I am a proud member of a Culture of Readers community. A couple of years ago, reading was not my thing. When I was told that it was time to do my daily reading at home, I hated the thought of it because I wasn’t ever reading a book that I enjoyed and I had a hard time finding books that would pull me in. But then, my thinking changed! I believe that anyone, even now, can find a book that they truly cherish and care for. Our Pleasant Valley Culture of Readers community is a group of people who share an immense passion for reading! My reading journey started last year, when Mrs. Gatton and Mrs. Bachtel helped me find a book that I sincerely enjoyed and helped me expand my reading level! My favorite book from last year was Never After and it sparked a passion for reading. I started writing lists of phenomenal books that I felt were similar to each other, and that fit my favorite genres. Now, my goal is to help students at my school who don’t really like reading and help them to spark their own interests. I want the person who’s reading my blog to try and adjust their reading mindset whether they don’t like reading, or whether you’re a person who only likes one book, to a bold person who likes all kinds of genres and series! I believe that anyone can change their mindset if they really try and push themselves to become an active and strong reader.
